Ski touring

The ascent is part of it.

A slower ascent. A closer connection to the landscape.

Ski touring opens a human-powered way into Iran’s winter mountains. From shorter introductory days to longer traverses, the right objective depends on snow stability, weather, access and the group’s skills.

Describe the skiing you know.

Share your recent touring days, typical daily ascent, off-piste confidence and experience with kick turns, avalanche rescue equipment and changing snow. Strong piste skiing alone does not establish readiness for remote winter terrain.

Prepare for the whole day.

A route discussion should cover ascent and descent, turnaround times, avalanche exposure, escape options and communication. Equipment may include touring skis and bindings, skins, ski crampons, avalanche rescue equipment and suitable clothing; the final list must come from the person responsible for your specific itinerary.

Let conditions set the objective.

Snow cover and access vary between regions, elevations and seasons. Treat dates and routes as a starting point for discussion, with alternatives built into the plan.
